The federal workplace health and safety regulator wants Canadian businesses to prepare a pandemic plan for the possibility of a “new virus” that could lead to food or fuel disruptions in the most extreme scenarios.
In June, the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety quietly released the second edition of its Flu and Infectious Disease Outbreaks Business Continuity Plan Handbook. CCOHS said that the updated handbook serves as a comprehensive guide for employers, advising them on what to prepare for in the face of another pandemic.
However, what sets this edition apart is its explicit focus on a hypothetical “new virus” that could trigger widespread disruption with CCOHS using the recent Covid-19 crisis and the devastating 1918 influenza pandemic as case examples.
In this new edition, the CCOHS writes that businesses must prepare for scenarios far more severe than a temporary closure or a drop in customer demand – although the guide frequently mentions travel restrictions, public gathering bans and quarantines.
Citing the Public Health Agency of Canada, the CCOHS states that “based on trends from past pandemic flus, there may be a higher average number of illness and deaths in age groups different than what we typically see during annual flu seasons.”
The CCOHS did not respond to True North’s request for clarification and comment.
The guide warns that employers must be ready for a situation where a serious infectious disease outbreak or pandemic forces significant portions of the workforce to stay home, even leading to disruptions of basic goods.
“If there is a pandemic, how many people will be off work? It is impossible to determine with certainty – estimates vary because no one will know for sure how ill the new virus will make people, how fast it will spread, or how many people will not go to work, until it happens,” writes the CCOHS.
According to the handbook, a future pandemic “will come in 2 or 3 waves about 3 to 9 months separating each outbreak. Each wave is expected to last approximately 6 to 8 weeks. A pandemic may last in these cycles for up to two years or more.”
The implications of this scenario are far-reaching. The guide urges employers to brace for reduced labor supply, supply chain interruptions, and dramatic shifts in consumer demand.
Perhaps most concerning is the warning about possible disruptions in essential services such as telecommunications, banking, water, power, gasoline, medicine, and even the food supply.
“In more extreme situations, (expect) possible disruptions in other services such as telecommunications, financial/banking, water, power (hydro), gasoline/fuels, medicine or the food supply.”
Pandemic contingency plans exist at several levels of government. A bombshell new report from the House Judiciary Committee, which is led by Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), found that more than 100 illegal aliens on the terrorist watch list were encountered by the Border Patrol attempting to illegally immigrate into the U.S. but were allowed to go free into the country.
“Under the Biden-Harris Administration, of the more than 250 illegal aliens on the terrorist watchlist who were encountered by Border Patrol at the southwest border between fiscal years 2021 and 2023, DHS has released into American communities at least 99, with at least 34 others in DHS custody but not yet removed from the United States,” the House Judiciary Committee report states.
Federal immigration Judges released at least 27 illegal aliens with suspected ties to terrorism on bond, according to the report. The Border Patrol has encountered a growing number of illegal aliens from countries that are considered terrorist hotbeds, including more than 2,000 Afghans, 33,000 Chinese, 500 Iranians, and 500 Syrians.
No one knows who is crossing the southern border
Those figures from the Border Patrol don’t include the countless illegal aliens who’ve managed to enter the country undetected.
“That does not include the untold numbers of potential terrorists that evaded Border Patrol to enter the United States as part of nearly 2 million ‘gotaways’ since the beginning of the Biden-Harris Administration,” the report noted.
The Border Patrol encountered illegal aliens on the terror watch list from 36 countries, including Iraq, Somalia, Yemen, Syria, and Lebanon.
Blame was placed on the “open-borders policies of President Joe Biden and border czar Vice President Kamala Harris” for allowing millions of illegal aliens to enter the country.
The number of encounters of illegal aliens on the terror watch list has spiked by 3,000% since the Biden-Harris regime took office.
Even the FBI and Homeland Security have sounded the alarm on the growing threat terrorism poses to the U.S. thanks to open borders. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested eight illegal aliens from Tajikistan with suspected ties to ISIS in a multistate raid in June.
“With national security experts and immigration officials increasingly concerned about the threat of terrorism originating from the border, it is clear that policymakers must take all necessary steps to secure the border and stop the flow of illegal aliens. Fox News reported that Edward Siedle claims financial misconduct within the state-run Teachers Retirement Association, sparking a whistleblower investigation.
Edward Siedle, known for his work in pension investigation, has raised alarms over the financial practices of the Minnesota State Retirement System, particularly the Teachers Retirement Association (TRA). He alleges that the fund has been understating the fees paid out to investment managers while reporting unlikely financial returns.
As the chairman of the Minnesota State Retirement System since January 2019, Governor Tim Walz oversees a substantial sum, which includes $140 billion in state employee funds. Of this, $28.2 billion is specifically earmarked for the pensions of public school teachers.

It's a sad sight indeed — settled inside the beautiful Bayfront Park in Hamilton, Ont., is a growing tent city that dozens of people now call home.
And talk about a dichotomy. Nestled next to the park is a sprawling marina housing an array of pricey ships.
The homelessness problem isn't just found here. There are 1,600 homeless people residing in Hamilton, many of them living in local parks and anywhere else they can find a modicum of shelter. In fact, upon our arrival, we saw several folks camped outside the local Dairy Queen.
We've seen this issue play out in nearly every major city in Canada. And what are our politicians doing about it?
Well, Hamilton Mayor Andrea Horwath recently announced her staff will "study" the issue to come up with a plan (meaning: do a whole lot of nothing about the problem).
It's great that Horwath has acknowledged there's a problem — few politicians are willing to go that far.
But how about some concrete actions beyond bureaucratic busy work?
And isn't it telling where our government's priorities lie when illegal migrants and refugees are being put up in hotel rooms on the taxpayer dime while our domestic homeless population is left to rot in the streets?
Canadians have been dealing with a housing crisis for years, so why are the Trudeau Liberals so adamant about bringing in hundreds of thousands of people every year?

Former President Trump, never one to shy away from a challenge, has agreed to participate in three crucial debates leading up to the 2024 election.
The debates, scheduled for September 4 on Fox News from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, September 10 on ABC with David Muir at Philadelphia’s historic Independence Hall, and September 25 on NBC News with Lester Holt in Grand Rapids, Michigan, are seen as pivotal moments in the race.

A dispute between Canada’s two main railway companies and their employees comes at the worst time for farmers in the nation’s agriculture sector who need to get their crops to market.
Both of Canada’s main railways—Canadian National (CN) and Canadian Pacific Kansas City—could go on strike or be locked out as early as Aug. 22 unless they reach new labour deals for their employees, represented by the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference union.
Gunter Jochum, president of the Wheat Growers Association who farms near St. Francois Xavier in Manitoba, just west of Winnipeg, said rail problems could waylay the payoff for bumper crops in the area.
“It’s not just terrible for grain farmers, I think it’s terrible for the whole country, because the railways move somewhere north of $380 billion worth of goods for Canada in a year. … And yes, it affects us in the worst way, especially at harvest,” Jochum told The Epoch Times.
Elevators fill up quickly when they can’t load cars with grains and cereals. Farmers aren’t paid for grain until the elevators can take it, and few have enough bin space for an entire harvest. The backlog can leave farmers with cash flow challenges and piles of grain left in the field where the weather can diminish their quality.
“We won’t get compensated for loss of income, so we may have to go to the banks for loans to tide us over. It’s just really bad. I can’t put any good spin on this,” Jochum said.

The main issues of contention between the railways and the union—which represents 9,300 engineers, conductors, yard workers, and rail traffic controllers—are scheduling, safety concerns related to fatigue, and salaries, among others.
“From the very beginning, rail workers have only ever sought a fair and equitable agreement. Unfortunately, both rail companies are demanding concessions that could tear families apart or jeopardize rail safety,” Teamsters president Paul Boucher said in a statement on Aug 9.
The rail companies don’t agree.
“None of CN’s offers compromised safety in any way,” the Montreal-based railway said in a press release on the same day.
“What we have proposed is that people can volunteer for relocation when there is a requirement based on availabilities,” said CN spokesman Jonathan Abecassis. “To say that this is tearing families apart is just not accurate.”
Both the Wheat Growers Association and the Western Grain Elevators Association (WGEA) have urged the rail companies, employees, and federal government to complete negotiations in good faith or submit to binding arbitration.
“For the grain sector, this rail strike is coming at the worst possible time of year, right before the start of harvest,” said WGEA executive director Wade Sobkowich in a news release on Aug. 12.
“The world needs Canada’s grain now more than ever, and it is unconscionable that anyone would leverage the current domestic and global circumstances to benefit their individual interests.”
Rail Services Deemed Not Essential
Teamsters’ members voted in favour of a strike mandate in April, but action by then-Labour Minister Seamus O’Regan set that aside. In May, he ordered the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) to examine whether critical shipments, such as chlorine for water and gasoline for cities, constituted essential services the railways must deliver for the health and safety of Canadians.
Neither a lockout nor a strike was permitted until the CIRB decided Aug. 9 that rail services were not essential. Jochum disagrees with the decision.
“It becomes pretty essential when all of a sudden my livelihood is affected, right? Are farmers going to die because our grain doesn’t get moved? I doubt it. But could farmers default on some loans? Absolutely,” he said.
“They possibly could lose their farms if it’s a long enough strike, … so I'd say it’s pretty essential.”
Barry Prentice, a professor of supply chain management at the University of Manitoba, says railway service may not be essential in parameters considered by the CIRB, but they are in many others. For this very reason, he expects a resolution.
“The railways are too essential to allow a strike to follow through to its logical conclusion. The government will intervene. They just cannot not intervene. And both sides know this,” Prentice said in an interview.
“Most Canadians look at the railway and say, of course it’s an essential service. … Half the economy is at stake. How much more essential can it be?”
Working conditions seem more of a sticking point than wages for the Teamsters. Although the union has rejected the railways’ offers of binding arbitration, Prentice predicts the government will mandate it before the trains come to a halt.
“This is one of the issues that farmers have complained about for generations, is that they get used as a pawn in these battles,” he said. “The people who are trying to seek strategic advantage … seem to be all too willing to make the farmers the hostages in these negotiations.”
Fertilizer Shipments Already Affected
The job action is already affecting fertilizer shipments, as well as hazardous goods such as chlorine to disinfect drinking water and other toxic or poisonous substances and explosive materials.
On Aug. 12, the railways announced they would embargo shipments of ammonia fertilizer products until a labour agreement was reached. The premise was to prevent dangerous goods from being left stranded on railways.
Fertilizer Canada has called on the federal government to recognize fertilizer as an “essential good critical to domestic and global food security” that should continue to move during work stoppages.
“The long-lasting and cascading impacts of labour disruptions are felt before and after the stoppage even takes place,” Karen Proud, president and CEO of Fertilizer Canada, said in an Aug. 12 press release.
The organization also urged Ottawa to amend the Canada Labour Code to “strengthen the bargaining process” in order to prevent disruption in Canada’s supply chains.
An Abacus poll conducted in May and cited by Fertilizer Canada found that three-quarters of Canadians support this measure. Also, 79 percent said they believe products vital to domestic and global food security should continue to move during a work stoppage.

A female Secret Service agent on duty to protect former President Donald Trump at a North Carolina rally Wednesday left her post to breastfeed without permission, RealClearPolitics reported.
Soon before Trump's arrival in Asheville, North Carolina, the Secret Service site agent conducted a final sweep of the walking route "and found the agent breast-feeding her child in a room that is supposed to be set aside for important Secret Service official work, i.e. a potential emergency related to the president," the outlet's Susan Crabtree posted Thursday on X.
The woman agent, out of the Atlanta Field Office, and two family members bypassed the Uniformed Division checkpoint and were escorted by "unpinned" event staff into the room to breastfeed, sources told RealClearPolitics.
Unpinned means they had not been cleared to be there by the Secret Service.
A Secret Service spokesman said the incident did not have an impact on the event and is under review.
"All employees of the U.S. Secret Service are held to the highest standards," spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said, the news outlet reported. "While there was no impact to the North Carolina event, the specifics of this incident are being examined. Given this is a personnel matter, we are not in a position to comment further."

Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned July 23 after the agency came under scrutiny for its failure to stop the shooter at the Trump rally.
Cheatle faced bipartisan condemnation when she appeared before the House of Representatives Oversight Committee, declining to answer questions from frustrated lawmakers about the security plan for the rally and how law enforcement responded to the suspicious behavior of the gunman. Her resignation came less than 24 hours later.

There’s so much important news this week. First of all, CLC has been officially blacklisted as a “hate group” by a Trudeau-funded organization that seeks to “defeat” groups it disagrees with.
For the record, CLC is a national pro-life organization which works at all levels of government to secure full legal protection for the preborn from the first moment of their existence. We defend the sanctity of human life against threats posed by abortion and euthanasia. We champion real marriage, the family, and parental rights.
If this makes us a “hate group,” then we are guilty as charged.
I think you’ll agree, however, that the converse is true: groups that actively work to shut down Christian and Conservative-leaning institutions and voices are the ones who are the real haters. There are a number of must-read reports about this situation and how it could negatively affect our operations.
How about some good news?
The city of St Catharines repealed a bylaw that restricted pro-life speech by banning “fetal” images. This came in the wake of a legal challenge to the bylaw from the pro-life group the Association of Reformed Political Action (ARPA) Canada. This is the second city in weeks — something similar just happened in London — to abandon censorship of pro-life speech after the pro-life movement flexed its legal muscle. Now, groups like CCBR will be able to show the truth about abortion in these cities unmolested. Praise God!

· Basel 4 was originally intended to start on 1 Jan. 2022, but in March 2020 was delayed due to the pandemic till Jan. 2023, and will be enforced over 5 years (2027).
· All banks across the Globe have to be Basel 4 Compliant (meaning their money had to be asset-backed), many banks have since consolidated, or closed completely.

· FIAT money is backed by a country’s government instead of a physical commodity or financial instrument. This means most coin and paper currencies that are presently being used throughout the world are FIAT money. This includes the US Dollar, the British Pound, the Euro and the SA Rand.
· All Basel 4 compliant countries will then put out their new currencies and take the old money in, so the FIAT Dollar will become obsolete outside of the US and millions hidden will become worthless.
· The world will use the FIAT and then transition over to the precious metals / commodity backed currencies and the USD / Sterling Pound and Euro will have no value whatsoever anymore.
· The use of the FIAT will be used for up to 90 days Feb. / March / April 2025 parallel with the new United States Note (USN), they may cut it off of by April 30th or soon thereafter.
· No FIAT currency or any other form of currency or cash can be deposited into the QFS without going through an exchange process and having a digital gold certificate assigned. Without the gold certificate the computer will not recognize it as money.
