Do Christians Care About the Environment?
Where should Christians stand on the environmental debate?
Do Christians even care about the environment? Environmentalist Lynn White Jr in a well-known 1967 article accused Christianity that it:
“insisted that it is God’s will that man exploit nature for his proper ends..... Christianity made it possible to exploit nature in a mood of indifference to the feelings of natural objects.” 1
White Jr. was apparently alluding to the Dominion mandate that was given to mankind in Genesis.2
“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.”
His conclusion was that: “More science and more technology are not going to get us out of the present ecological crisis until we find a new religion or rethink our old one”.
Christians are often unaware of the accusations levelled against them for the perceived environmental crises, but is indifference and exploitation of nature really a Biblical concept? The dominion mandate certainly elevates humans above other creatures in responsibility for planet earth. We have been given an incredible honour to manage wisely the resources put on this planet.
When man was first formed he was put in the garden of Eden to tend it (Gen 2:15). A garden by definition is a manicured and managed collection of plants but this in no way hints at a mandate to wantonly destroy or abuse creation. Psalm 24 reminds us that the earth is the Lords and everything in it and Colossians 1 that creation was made for Jesus Christ.
It follows that the Biblical mandate is that we have an awesome responsibility to care for God’s creation on behalf of Jesus our creator. We are permitted to grow and use resources in a responsible fashion but more than that we tend the garden so that it will remain productive for all people.
The true Christian understanding is that we have the highest calling to care for God’s creation on His behalf. This involves active decision making and while wild areas are important, most of these require oversight to ensure they are not diminished by invasive plants and animals or other natural processes that might impact them.
However, the Christian idea of personal responsibility to the environment has been overtaken by Pagan philosophies and in more recent decades by collectivist ideas seeking wide-ranging controls over all people. Founder of the Australian Greens political party Dr. Bob Brown wrote: “Our imperative is to save ourselves from ourselves by ourselves”3. He admits that: “the idea of responsibility to Earth as our life source and spiritual anchor echoes through modern environmentalism”3. Brown is dismissing the biblical God but identifies a spirituality behind modern environmental motivation.
The pagan roots of modern environmentalism which has morphed into a collectivist mentality of control over the populace may be why Christians have often felt sidelined in the discussion of care for creation. Our high calling through the dominion mandate of Genesis 1 calls us to rise up and do our part in caring for God’s work, reducing pollution, living sustainably and with moderation and thinking of our fellow man in all that we do. Sometimes we may disagree with what exactly is needed but if we all seek God’s will in our lives and His wisdom, he will guide us how best to achieve His aims in creation care.
During our recent ministry trip to South Australia we met some incredible innovative farmers and researchers attempting to do just that as the following article shows.

Dung Beetle Breeding - God Thought of Everything!
Most of us live our daily lives without giving a thought to creatures like Dung Beetles. Maybe some of you would like to keep it that way given it is a topic you might consider “on the nose”. Yet this group of specialised creatures show us that God has indeed thought of everything. We met up with Australia’s only Dung Beetle breeder Greg Dalton near Strathalbyn South Australia to learn more about these incredible creatures and how good they can be for the environment. Greg has studied, bred and released many thousands of beetles for 24 years.
Various species are kept in special soil boxes with just the right amount of soil moisture and of course a supply of dung. The moisture content is important and is closely monitored. The best beetle for your paddocks can depend on local climate, dung type and soil type and Greg has spent a lot of time researching the best beetle or combination of beetles for different areas.
Without Dung Beetles, the buildup of manure on pastures would severely restrict grass growth but not only do the beetles reduce the cover of dung they roll it up and dig tunnels into the soil profile and naturally redistribute the organic matter to where it is most useful deep in the soil. It is a form of natural fertilising. Some species of Dung Beetle transport the dung as deep as 80 centimetres.
Greg says that once established and properly managed, the Dung Beetles can be self-sustained and do not need constant re-introduction.

There is an environmental twist here! For those who think that cattle are a major source of carbon emissions think again.
Dung beetles actually transfer huge quantities of carbon contained in manure, deeply back into the soils. The soils become a carbon sink and cattle farming can thus be considered a sustainable practice regarding the carbon cycle. There are also potential long term savings from a reduced need to apply fertilisers.
Greg is a passionate believer in Jesus Christ and desires to look for His perfect ways in farm management. His business is called “Creation Care” and is a great example of Christians actively applying the dominion mandate to help care for both people and the environment.

Saving Endangered Species - Tasmanian Handfish
Romans 8 reveals that all creation is groaning as a result of the curse of sin. While the downhill trend of degeneration, devolution and decay is one that we cannot ultimately control it seems fitting that we attempt to protect the survival of all of God’s creatures because of their inherent created majesty. (Picture below: The Spotted Handfish)
Endangered species reflect the struggle of life in a sin impacted world. Rachelle Hawkins, wife of Craig from Creation Research, is involved in the research and breeding of two of the world’s most endangered fish through their business Seahorse World. She is part of the Threatened Species Recovery Team headed by the CSIRO (Australia’s government scientific research organisation) for the Tasmanian Spotted Handfish and Red Handfish. The Spotted Handfish is estimated to have less than 1000 individuals known in the wild and the Red Handfish less than 100 individuals.
Both were once relatively common 50 years ago but have seen dramatic declines with the impacts on their habitat by invasive Pacific Sea Stars and Sea urchins. Sea urchins can be naturally controlled by large Crayfish but the catch of these for human consumption has reduced their numbers and average size and thus overall effectiveness in impacting urchin populations.
Handfish breed by laying eggs on stalked Ascidians but these are consumed by the invasive species and sometimes knocked over by yacht moorings. In response, the recovery team has established thousands of ceramic ‘stalks’ that cannot be eaten and it is known that these have been used for egg laying by the wild Handfish.

Secondly, a captive breeding program has been established to learn the needs of the species and to release individuals back into the wild.
Seahorse World has been successful in breeding both species of Handfish in captivity and was the first to breed from two captive raised Red Handfish parents. There have been some wild releases of animals, but it is too early to determine the success of the program.
Handfish are a part of the broader Angler fish family. It is unclear whether or not they are degenerate forms of the originally created Handfish or Angler fish groups since they do not have a swim bladder like most fish. As a result, they spend most of their time on the seafloor “walking” with their broad pectoral fins – (thus the name Handfish). A CSIRO scientist was once asked by a journalist if they are good examples of fish evolving legs to which the scientist replied, “not at all, they are just fins”.
So why bother trying to save critically endangered creatures like the Handfish? From a Christian perspective, the simple answer is because they are a special part of God’s creation. They contain unique genetic coding designed by the Creator and are of inherent worth to Him. If we have the capacity to care for creation in some way and fail to do so, we are accountable to Him. Furthermore we may also be losing creatures with as yet unknown useful qualities that could benefit all of creation.

Joseph writes: Thanks for all your prayers regarding my PhD work and poster presentation at a conference in the USA. It went very well, and a lot of interest from fellow peers in science. It never ceases to amaze me, however, how blindly people attach themselves to the assumptions of deep time.
The most common comment about my presentation was, “It’s astonishing how this biomaterial has managed to last this long (180 million years)!” Yes, it is indeed – a bit too astonishing! In fact, it is scientifically impossible for collagen to last millions of years, yet many would rather believe this impossibility rather than question the deep time narrative. The words ‘Wilfully ignorant’ spring to mind (2 Peter 3:5).

While I was over on the west coast of the USA, I was scheduled to fly up to Sacramento to be interviewed by Genesis Apologetics for a new documentary they are working on, dealing with soft tissue in fossil bones. What was supposed to be a whole day of filming didn’t quite turn out as expected. My early morning flight got cancelled, and rescheduled for the afternoon, leaving less than 2 hours to film what we could. The LORD blessed our time together though, and they were thrilled with what we were able to capture. It did mean I didn’t get back to my hotel until after midnight and then had to fly the 12 hours back home the next day! With all of that, jet lag has been pretty bad this time around. I would appreciate prayer for rest in the midst of the hectic rush.

Sen. Chris Coons treated for minor injuries after multi-vehicle crash in Sussex County

Delaware Sen. Chris Coons was hospitalized Sunday afternoon after a multi-vehicle crash in Sussex County left the 62-year-old Democrat with minor injuries. Coons, a passenger in one of the vehicles struck, was transported to Beebe Hospital in Lewes, Delaware, where he was treated and released the same day.
The crash occurred on Savannah Road in Lewes on June 28, Breitbart reported, after an unnamed Delaware driver experienced a medical incident and collided with several cars. Coons was riding as a passenger in one of the vehicles hit.
No one involved in the crash was reported to be seriously injured. Coons returned home after treatment and said he expects a full and swift recovery.
Coons credits first responders in public statement
The senator announced the incident on his X account, thanking the agencies that responded to the scene. As CBS News Philadelphia reported, Coons issued a detailed statement naming the local agencies involved:
"I'm deeply grateful to the first responders for their prompt and professional response, including the Lewes Police Department, Lewes and Rehoboth Fire Departments, and Sussex County Emergency Medical Services, as well as the capable doctors and nurses at Beebe Hospital, where I received excellent care. I'm feeling relieved and blessed that by all accounts no one was seriously injured during the crash."
Coons also confirmed the basic details of the collision in a separate portion of his statement, as the Washington Examiner reported:
"Earlier today, a Delaware driver experienced a medical incident and collided with several cars, including one in which I was a passenger. I was transported to Beebe Hospital and treated for minor injuries. I'm now home and expected to make a full and swift recovery."
The identity of the driver who suffered the medical incident has not been disclosed. The nature of that medical episode remains unknown. No charges or arrests were mentioned in connection with the crash, and it is unclear whether any law enforcement investigation is ongoing.
A senator seeking a fourth term
Coons has held his Senate seat since 2010, when he won a special election after Ted Kaufman, who was appointed to fill Joe Biden's vacancy when Biden resigned to become vice president in 2008, chose not to seek a full term. The crash comes just weeks after Coons announced on June 12 that he is running for a fourth Senate term.
He faces Christopher Beardsley in Delaware's primary election, scheduled for September 15.
On the Republican side, Michael Katz and John Shulli are running for the seat. Health incidents involving sitting lawmakers, like the medical questions that dogged Joe Biden during his final year in office, tend to draw public attention, though in this case Coons appears to have walked away with only minor injuries.
The exact number of vehicles involved in the crash was not specified. Coons described it as involving "several cars," and the New York Post confirmed the multi-car nature of the collision. Whether any other drivers or passengers required medical treatment beyond Coons has not been detailed, though Coons stated that "by all accounts no one was seriously injured."
Open questions remain
Several details about the crash remain unresolved. The driver who caused the collision has not been publicly identified. The specific medical event that triggered the chain-reaction crash has not been described. And no law enforcement agency has issued a public statement about the incident or any potential investigation.
Democratic senators have found themselves at the center of dramatic, unexpected headlines with increasing frequency. In Virginia, a Democratic state senator faced an FBI raid that party allies tried to pin on the Trump administration, before it emerged that the probe began under Biden. In San Francisco, a Democratic state senator was chased out of a public march by protesters angry over her stance on Gaza.
Coons' crash, by contrast, involved no political controversy, just a medical emergency behind the wheel of another car that sent a sitting senator to the hospital. The first responders in Lewes handled it, and Coons went home.
Whatever else happens in Delaware's 2026 Senate race, the people who deserve attention here are the Lewes police officers, the firefighters, and the EMS crews who showed up on Savannah Road on a Sunday afternoon and did their jobs. That part of the story never changes, no matter who's in the back seat.

I'm going to buy the NLT bible today, because it is one of the few that makes sense out of Psalm 50:8. The only other one which makes equal sense is the Berean Literal Bible.
Here's an interesting thing about the Septuagint and the Douay-Rheims, both which were published before King James. They introduce most Psalms with the phrase "Unto the end", and "the end" is supposed to refer to Jesus who is the "end" of the Law (it's end result, or fulfillment).
Going further than that, just about every psalm is interpreted as referring to Jesus who, as a human, identifies with our human frailties; and as the Son of God identifies with the Father. This results in most psalms frequently switching identity as you read it, which can be confusing if you don't look at them this way.

The Breakdown of Colonial Loyalties
Political alignment during the revolution generally fell into three distinct groups: [3, 4]
· The Patriots (40% – 45%): This group, also known as Whigs, actively supported breaking away from British rule. Support peaked in New England but was much weaker in the middle colonies. [1, 2, 5]
· The Neutrals (35% – 45%): A massive portion of the population preferred to stay out of the conflict. This included pacifist religious groups like the Quakers, as well as remote backcountry farmers who felt disconnected from the political elite. [1, 6, 7, 8, 9]

Where Do Other Common Percentages Come From?
If you have heard different numbers, they usually stem from a few historical misconceptions:
· The "Rule of Thirds" Myth (33%): For a long time, people believed the colonies were split exactly into thirds. This came from a misinterpretation of a letter written by John Adams. Modern historians have proven Adams was actually talking about American public opinion regarding the French Revolution, not the American Revolution. [12, 13, 14]
· The "Three Percent" Myth (3%): There is a modern myth that only 3% of colonists actively fought the British. This statistic is mathematically incorrect. Martin Armstrong's uncanny predictions
Armstrong still sees the Democrat Party breaking up just as he predicted in December of 2024. For proof this is happening now, look no further than Dem loyalist James Carville’s recent comments. Armstrong is still predicting Europe goes to war with Russia and loses. Why go to war? Because of huge economic problems. Armstrong says, “They want war. . .. look for things to heat up between Ukraine and Russia because Zelensky has been given the green light to escalate it.”
Armstrong goes on to say, “There is going to be no peace deal in Iran. . .. We have a conflict of interests. Trump is trying to get out because he has the midterms, but Netanyahu is going to run again, and he needs a victory–which to me is impossible. His opposition in Israel is pounding him saying we got nothing out of this. . .. If Netanyahu agrees to peace, he basically loses the election. The polls are saying he has 61% of Israelis against him.” So, don’t look for peace with Iran for the rest of this year going into 2027, according to Armstrong.
