Urgent: 1 Day Fast, Oct. 7, MAiD Being Voted On In Parliament
URGENT CALL TO FASTING
I have felt compelled this morning to call a one-day fast for tomorrow, October 7th, as Parliament prepares to vote on Bill C-218.
If passed, C-218 would prevent MAiD from being extended to Canadians whose sole underlying medical condition is mental illness.
This includes people struggling with serious mental illness—including depression, addiction-related conditions, and eating disorders.
If C-218 passes, it will move to committee for further consideration.
Yesterday, I received several messages from people personally struggling with mental illness, as well as parents of young adult children who are struggling. They shared with me just how important this legislation is to them.
These are not statistics.
These are precious people.
These are sons and daughters.
These are lives worth fighting for.
If legislation (like C-218) does not change the current law, eligibility for MAiD where mental illness is the sole underlying medical condition is scheduled to take effect on March 17, 2027.
So tomorrow, I am asking those who feel led to join me in a one-day fast and prayer for C-218.

A Concordia handbook that actually respects Canada
This fall, the Concordia Student Union used student fees to publish a handbook that disparages Canada, questions the value of voting, and calls on students to mobilize for Palestinian prisoners — including some tied to terrorism. Last year's edition celebrated the Cuban Revolution and dropped Christmas from its calendar entirely. Even the National Post covered it.
Some students decided complaining quietly wasn't enough.
In partnership with Canadian Students for Free Speech, fourth-year Concordia students Anastasia and Drew designed and printed a patriotic alternative: a handbook that celebrates Canada, promotes freedom of expression, and honours influential Canadians.

On September 23 and 24, National Campus Coordinator William Diaz and 10 students handed out 120 copies at Concordia and McGill, sparking real conversations about free expression and religious freedom on campus.
Over 40 students signed up on the spot to start free speech clubs at the two schools.

Trump Unveils a New Tool in the AI Race
Trump names an AI czar to lead the newly formed “Super Intelligence Force”
Yes, that is its official name—and someone has been appointed to lead it.
For those uneasy about AI’s future, the Super Intelligence Force is intended to offer reassurance—or at least that is the message President Donald Trump wants to convey. Seeking to preserve the United States’ leading position in the industry, Trump established the task force and reframed the discussion around “artificial intelligence.” He appointed Jay Clayton, the country’s director of national intelligence, to lead it.
In a Truth Social post, Trump said the Super Intelligence Force will coordinate federal efforts to keep the United States at the forefront of super intelligence. He added that the group will work with consumers, public-interest and religious organizations, critical-infrastructure providers, and “super intelligence companies.”
According to The Wall Street Journal, the force’s first assignment is to produce, within 120 days, a report on AI-related risks and opportunities.
