Last week, the Trump administration rolled out a 28-point framework to end the grinding conflict in Ukraine. This plan raised eyebrows among European allies and Kyiv for its apparent nods to Russian demands.

Thankful for what?
Solomon told us there's a time for everything: a time for war and a time for peace (preparing us for a transition from Old Testament justice to New Testament Grace). And that's reflected in our personal lives, certainly mine, as I have moved from being thankful for physical comforts to being thankful for spiritual consolations in the absence of indulgence.
To be blunt, I'm thankful for God giving me both hugs and pain, starting with my parents and continuing with my wife for as long as she lived, and now from my son. And as I consider the likelihood of my life ending within the next ten years or so (I'm 82), I'm grateful not for blessings I've enjoyed on earth, but for what I will enjoy in heaven, friends and family I will see again, satisfying a 23 year old's hope of making a difference in someone's life before I die.
