A federal appeals court has denied a stay of a ruling last week ordering President Joe Biden to reinstate former President Donald Trump’s Remain in Mexico policy.
Judges from the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals Jennifer Elrod, appointed by former President George W. Bush and Andy Oldham and Cory Wilson, both appointed by Trump, rejected an appeal by the Biden administration to stay last week’s order by Judge Matthew J. Kacsmaryk, appointed by Trump.
The appeals court judges wrote that rescinding the policy was harming border states, and Texas in particular.
DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is required to consider the impact of his policies on the states and border towns, they continued, and he failed to do so, they said.

US Supreme Court Intervenes in ‘Remain in Mexico’ Case, Blocking Program’s Revival:
The United States Supreme Court on Friday blocked the reinstatement of the “Remain in Mexico” program, intervening just hours before President Joe Biden’s administration would have had to restart the policy.
Justice Samuel Alito, a George W. Bush nominee, in a one-page order stayed a ruling that was poised to go into effect on Saturday. That ruling would have forced the Biden administration to restart the Trump era program, formally known as the Migrant Policy Protocols (MPP).
The Biden administration ended the program on June 1, triggering a lawsuit from the states of Texas and Missouri.
Alito issued the order after the U.S. government filed an emergency motion with the nation’s top court. He said he was blocking the lower court ruling so that the full Supreme Court could consider the application.
Without action, government lawyers had told the court, the government would be forced “to abruptly reinstate a broad and controversial immigration enforcement program that has been formally suspended for seven months and largely dormant for nearly nine months before that.”

“We want to get a strong number as to exactly how many American citizens are there and where they are,” he added.

No one knows where Cuomo will live after leaving office and the official residence. He had a residence in Mount Kisco, north of New York City, with television personality Sandra Lee, but they sold it after their breakup.
The New York Post speculated that Cuomo could take up residence with his brother, Chris Cuomo, who has a place in the Hamptons.
Cuomo may still face criminal charges for harassing at least 11 women during his time as governor and attorney general.

The White House has revealed signs that it has no plans to rescue all of the Americans trapped in Afghanistan and recognizes some will not escape.
National security adviser Jake Sullivan was asked, “If the mission is not complete by Aug. 31, and there are American and Afghan allies who remain there, will U.S. troops stay until everyone is out, or will they leave?”
Sullivan replied, “I’m not going to comment on hypotheticals. What I’m going to do is stay focused on the task at hand, which is getting as many people out, as rapidly as possible, and we will.”

FBI finds little evidence of coordination behind January Capitol unrest:
In a turn of events that utterly upends one of the left’s primary political narratives of the past seven months, as Reuters reported on Friday, law enforcement officials have revealed that the FBI found virtually no evidence that the Jan. 6 unrest at the U.S. Capitol was the product of an organized plot to instigate an insurrection.
According to sources familiar with the findings, the FBI does not believe that the protests and ensuing violence was the result of central coordination by groups supportive of former President Donald Trump or any other entities aligned with the political right, Reuters added.
Specifically, one former senior law enforcement official close to ongoing investigations revealed, “Ninety to ninety-five percent of these are one-off cases. Then you have five percent, maybe, of these militia groups that were more closely organized. To direct Afghan interpreters around Taliban checkpoints:
Matt Zeller says 'digital Dunkirk' comprised of 'hundreds of thousands' of people helping Afghan interpreters flee country
A network of "hundreds of thousands" of people, including analysts using satellite imagery to locate Taliban checkpoints surrounding the Kabul airport, are coordinating to evacuate Afghan interpreters from the country, an Afghanistan war veteran and member of the coalition told Fox News.
These interpreters, now targeted by the Taliban, were essential U.S. allies during the Afghanistan war and played roles much larger than simply acting as translators, according to Matt Zeller. The Biden administration has faced fierce criticism that the U.S. hasn’t made their evacuation more of a priority.
"These people that we’re talking about … they were our eyes and ears on the battlefield," Zeller told Fox News. He said they’d hear Taliban communications ordering fighters to shoot the interpreters first.
"From the Taliban’s perspective, they won," Zeller, a former CIA analyst, continued. The Afghan interpreters "are the people who have been helping us to kill them over the last 20 years."
"They want revenge, they want retribution," he said. "There’s no place for these people in Afghanistan."
