💥 Euphrates River Drying Up:

The region once known as the Fertile Crescent is on the verge of a food crisis as the main sources of water disappear. Officials struggle to cope as a prophetic scenario appears to materialize.

Iraqi officials are reporting that for three consecutive years, the rainy season has begun later and ended sooner than the historic norm. This has been coupled with less water flowing through its two main rivers, the Tigris and the Euphrates. The region has also been plagued by ongoing conflict.

"Desertification now threatens almost 40% of the area of our country - a country that was once one of the most fertile and productive in the region," Iraq's President Abdul Latif Rashid told the climate summit in Egypt last week.

Nadhir Al-Ansari, professor at Sweden's Lulea University of Technology, told Reuters that rainfall in Iraq had declined by 30% over the past three decades, with the lowest precipitation coming in the last two years.

"What was once known as the Fertile Crescent started to die about 35 years ago," he said.

Officials accuse Turkey of cutting the river's flow upstream over the last two years to half the level it committed to in a 1987 accord, a claim the Turkish government denies.

In the year to September, rainfall in southeast Turkey where the rivers originate was 29% below the average of the previous three decades, according to Turkey's meteorological agency. Dams and drought have reduced the waters of the two rivers to about 20% of previous levels.

All these elements combined have led to a food crisis in the region. Almost 90% of rain-fed crops, mostly wheat and barley, failed this season, according to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Iraq.

The 1,700-mile-long Euphrates is the main source of drinking water as well as powering three hydroelectric plants that produce electricity for about three million people in Syria. Two dams in northern Syria face imminent closure which would leave about three million people without any access to electricity.

The water level at the Tishrin Dam, the first into which the river falls inside Syria, has dropped five meters and is currently about ten centimeters above "dead level" when the turbines stop producing electricity.

The Euphrates figures prominently in the Bible with it being described as bordering the Garden of Eden.

"The name of the third river is Tigris, the one that flows east of Assyria. And the fourth river is the Euphrates. "Genesis 2:14

It was also named as one of the borders of the land God granted to Abraham's descendants.

"On that day Hashem made a covenant with Avram, saying, "To your offspring I assign this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates:" Genesis 15:18

The prophet Jeremiah described how the waters of Babylon, the region currently including Syria and Iraq, would dry up as a punishment for their idolatrous practices, the devastation being so complete as to render the region, once part of the so-called 'fertile crescent', uninhabitable.

Christian eschatology foresees the River Euphrates drying up in the Book of Revelation Chapter 16 and playing an important role in the march of the Kings of the East upon the Middle East.

Morning Update:

💥 💥 💥 CSIS director advised Trudeau to invoke the EmergenciesAct despite definition of securitythreat: 💥 💥 💥

💥 The director of Canada’s spy agency advised Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to invoke the Emergencies Act to end last winter’s convoy protests, despite the fact that the blockades did not meet the CSIS definition of a national security threat outlined in the sweeping legislation.

💥 The Emergencies Act was necessary, David Vigneault, the head of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service [CSIS], told the inquiry studying the act’s use yesterday. He testified that he gave that advice after he was reassured by a Justice Department legal opinion that allowed for a broader interpretation of the definition that stipulated when the powerful legislation can be used.

That legal advice is central to the federal government’s justification for invoking the never-before-used act and is the inquiry’s focus as the commission enters a pivotal week.

The PM, ministers must not be exempt from transparency laws, former bureaucrat says

The offices of the prime minister and federal ministers should no longer be exempt from access-to-information law, Canada’s former top public servant says, and there should be a greater onus throughout the federal government to proactively disclose as much information to the public as possible.

Speaking to the House of Commons committee on access to information yesterday, Michael Wernick said public servants are already subject to access requests and that this should be expanded to include all “taxpayer funded political staff” including at the top levels of the federal government.

During the 2015 federal election campaign, Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau vowed to make sweeping changes to access to information, including bringing ministers’ offices including his own – under the access regime. Ministers’ offices in many provinces are already covered by freedom-of-information laws. But when the Access to Information Act was amended in 2018, the changes did not bring federal ministers’ offices within the scope of the law.

Here is an example of this Transparency Issue:

Nunavut commits to greater transparency on TB outbreaks, but wont make figures public

The government of Nunavut has agreed to share detailed data about the spread of tuberculosis with the territory’s top Inuit organization, but it won’t divulge those figures to the public as called for by Nunavut’s Information and Privacy Commissioner.

Nunavut continues to fight an outbreak of tuberculosis in Pangnirtung, a community of about 1,500 people on Baffin Island. More than 160 infections, 35 of them active cases that made patients sick and contagious, were diagnosed in the community between January of 2021 and August of this year. The outbreak is the worst to be publicly reported in Nunavut in at least five years.

💥 Documents related to multiple associates of Jeffrey Epstein are about to be released:

The Daily Mail reports that a judge has just ordered the unsealing of dozens of documents involving Jeffrey Epstein and his associates.

Many are now speculating that the documents may implicate a number of individuals with known ties to Epstein, including former President Bill Clinton.

The documents come from the defamation case that was brought by Virginia Roberts Giuffre against Ghislaine Maxwell. Ever since 2019, at the request of media outlets, documents from the case have been slowly released to the public in batches.

Numerous individuals, however, who are named in these documents have been fighting against their release. These individuals have been referred to as "non-party Does." There were 16 "non-party Does" at the start, whereas now we are down to eight: Does 12, 28, 97, 107, 144, 147, 171, and 183.

These final eight Does have been urging Judge Loretta Preska not to release the documents in which they are named. But, Preska has now overruled their objections, finding that the public's right to the information outweighs the "generalized concerns" about privacy that many of the Does raised.

Preska, however, is going to allow some things to remain sealed. Preska, for example, is going to allow documents related to Doe 12 to remain sealed because Doe 12 is said to be "peripheral to the events at issue" and "not associated with Epstein or Maxwell."

We don't yet know the names associated with each of these Does. We do know, however, that billionaire Tom Pritzker was fighting against the release of these documents. His objections were overridden by Preska.

We also know that Doe 147 is Sarah Ransome, a victim of Epstein's. Preska identified her because Ransome had "put herself out into the public forum relating to these issues" by writing a book and an op-ed about her experience.

As to the other Does, all we have at the moment are hints about their identities.

Doe 183, for example, is said to have been the "subject of intense media coverage." Doe 107, on the other hand, is said to have objected to the release of the documents on the grounds that they would "connect" him or her to Epstein and "unnecessarily invade [his/her] privacy."

It has yet to be stated when the documents will be unsealed. Court watchers expect that it won't be for weeks.

Until then, the speculation will continue about what these documents contain and about who these Does are, including whether the Does might include the likes of Clinton. [American Digest]

Ontario’s medical chief spotted at party without mask just days after advising the public to wear one:

TORONTO (LifeSiteNews) — Only days after telling Ontarians they should wear masks again; the province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kieran Moore was called out for hypocrisy after being filmed maskless at a packed party.

Last Thursday night, Moore attended a “50 Most Influential Torontonians” party at an elegantstore.

Video quickly emerged on social media showing Moore mingling maskless at the event, which led to an immediate backlash online.

Mask as I say, not as I doDr. Kieran Moore strongly recommends you wear masks 2 prevent children’s hospitals being overwhelmed but it does not apply to himself or dozens of above-rules friends at TorontoLife 50 Most Influential party. Pure hypocrisy like time he vacationed in DR,” tweeted Toronto Sun columnist Joe Warmington.

Former Conservative Party MP Derek Sloan said Moore is a puppetwho does not even believe his own “advice.”

“Dr. Kieran Moore lectures Ontarians about wearing masks and proceeds to do the opposite. He’s just a puppet for big pharma clearly, he doesn’t believe in his own advice,” Sloan tweeted.

Former Sun writer Anthony Furey, who now serves as vice president of editorial and content at True North, noted that politicians being caught notfollowing their own rules has become a “common occurrence after more than two years of dealing with heavy-handed government rules and edicts.”

Furey noted that Moore “never believed in his ‘strongrecommendation’ for masking and was only trying to appease the ‘fringe minority’ of Covid zealots.”

It was a week ago today that Moore said he now recommends people go back to wearing masks, and even said parents should wear one around their kids if they are sick.

After Moore’s maskless partygoing went viral, the Ontario Ministry of Health tried to downplay the incident, saying in a statement to media that Moore “evaluates the risk of each situation, including private events.”

“He follows:

  • · many layers of protection

  • · including screening daily for symptoms of any respiratory infection,

  • · practicing good hand hygiene,

  • · staying up to date on immunizations,

  • · masking when necessary and

  • · distancing when possible,” the health office said.

The same statement also noted that despite Moore deciding not to wear a mask at events he “continues to encourage everyone to use their best judgment on when it’s appropriate to wear a mask.”

Ontario Premier Doug Ford, who has decided for now at least to not reintroduce a province-wide masking mandate, said about Moore’s maskless partygoing that masking is “a personal choice.”

Ford’s comments echo those of the Ontario minister of health, who last week rebuked calls for a province-wide mask mandate, saying instead that masking is a personal choice.”

For weeks, Liberal and NDP MPPs have been calling for the reinstatement of a province-wide mask mandate, which the Ford government imposed on the population throughout most of the COVID crisis.

Reacting to the resurgence of mask mandates and recommendations taking place in many parts of the world, Dr. Joseph Mercola noted, “As predicted, ‘health experts’ are starting to call for voluntary indoor masking again, even though all the evidence garnered over the past three years confirms what we already knew in 2020, which is that face masks do nothing to stop viral infections.”

Both the flu vaccine and the COVID shots are proven ineffective, yet the recommendation to get them continues. And this season, you’re expected to get both,” Mercola said. [life Site News]

Latin America: 'China's Backyard' – Part 2:

· In the next two years, between 2022 and 2024, China, according to its joint plan with Latin American and Caribbean states, and as part of its quest to become the world's global tech leader, envisages providing states in the region with 5,000 government scholarships and 3,000 training places in education and research in the Chinese homeland.

· This cooperation also extends to space, as well as nuclear energy and nuclear technology. The plan also aims to strengthen cooperation in 5G telecommunications equipment and artificial intelligence.

· Significantly, the action plan also mentions building networks of sister cities and sister provinces between Latin American/Caribbean countries and China.

· "Under the administration of Communist Party leader Xi Jinping, the association [for sister-cities] has been revitalized as China seeks to groom local business, political, and media leaders in countries around the world..." — "China's Influence & American Interests," a 2018 report by the Working Group on Chinese Influence Activities in the United States, Hoover Institution Press, November 29, 2018.

· China's trade with Latin America reached $450 billion last year, up from $180 billion in 2010. The World Economic Forum has estimated that trade with the region will exceed $700 billion by 2035, more than double what it was in 2000.

· Crucially, 21 out of the 33 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean have joined the Belt and Road Initiative. The BRI seeks dramatically to enhance China's global influence... by making countries worldwide increasingly dependent on China.

· Latin America, as one headline noted recently, is fast "becoming China's backyard."

China is deepening its involvement in Latin America and the Caribbean, as Chinese Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Ma Zhaoxu made clear last year at a summit between China and Latin American and Caribbean states.

The summit resulted in a joint action plan that will not only tighten economic cooperation between China and Latin America and the Caribbean in various fields such as:

  • · agriculture,

  • · food,

  • · science,

  • · technology,

  • · industry,

  • · infrastructure,

  • · aviation,

  • · energy and

  • · tourism,

but also deepen China's influence in the region through cooperation in:

  • · education,

  • · research and

  • · sports.

The action plan directly mentions, for instance, that Latin American and Caribbean members of the forum "support China in hosting the Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games" that took place in March.

In the next two years, between 2022 and 2024, China, according to its joint plan with Latin American and Caribbean states, and as part of its quest to become the world's global tech leader, envisages providing states in the region with 5,000 government scholarships and 3,000 training places in education and research in the Chinese homeland.

This cooperation also extends to:

  • · space,

  • · as well as nuclear energy and

  • · nuclear technology.

The plan also aims to strengthen cooperation in 5G telecommunications equipment and artificial intelligence.

Confucius Institutes -- tools of Chinese influence around the world, "are overseen with heavy involvement" by the Chinese Communist Party's United Front Work Department, according to the Australian Strategic Policy Institute -- are also a central part of the joint plan, which states as one of its ambitions the opening of more Confucius Institutes and classrooms in universities and schools in Latin America.

Countries in Latin America and the Caribbean currently have about 43 Confucius Institutes, leaving much potential for growth. According to Parsifal D'Sola, director of the Andrés Bello Foundation's China Latin American Research Center, the increase in Confucius centers in Latin America will focus on academic research that yields more to China's concerns and less on topics that are sensitive to China.

"While there is a greater participation of Latin American professors in research financed by some Chinese government entities, we will see less criticism within the universities, which is something that favors China in its international image," D'Sola said in April.

Significantly, the action plan also mentions building networks of sister cities and sister provinces between Latin American/Caribbean countries and China. According to "China's Influence & American Interests," a 2018 report by the Working Group on Chinese Influence Activities in the United States, published by the Hoover Institution Press:

"China pursues sister-city relationships under an organization called the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries... that aims to strengthen the rule of the Chinese Communist Party and increase China's influence overseas. Under the administration of Communist Party leader Xi Jinping, the association has been revitalized as China seeks to groom local business, political, and media leaders in countries around the world..."

In the same vein, the China-Latin American action plan will seek to "Strengthen exchanges between entities involved in people-to-people friendship, and continue holding the China-LAC [Latin America and the Caribbean] People's Friendship Forum." Such seemingly benign-sounding activities are, however, a less-benign means of covert influence. According to Professor Anne-Marie Brady:

"In foreign affairs, the Xi administration has revived traditional CCP [Chinese Communist Party] policies of utilizing people-to-people... relations in order to coopt foreigners to support and promote China's foreign policy goals".

One of the ways that they do that, according to Brady, is to "[u]se sister city relations to expand China's economic agenda separate to a given nation's foreign policy. The CCP front organization, the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries is in charge of this activity."

In July, the United States National Counterintelligence and Security Center explicitly warned against the covert influence operations of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries in the US. It warned that Chinese influence operations "can be deceptive and coercive, with seemingly benign business opportunities or people-to-people exchanges sometimes masking PRC political agendas."

China already wields considerable influence in Latin America, as described here, but the new action plan promises to take that influence to new levels; it shows the extent to which China is aiming to "take over" Latin America and the Caribbean.

"The Chinese don't say, 'We want to take over Latin America,'" as U.S. Army War College Professor Evan Ellis said, "but they clearly set out a multidimensional engagement strategy, which, if successful, would significantly expand their leverage and produce enormous intelligence concerns for the United States."

This year, Ellis predicts, "will likely also feature continued diplomatic, economic, political, and security penetration of the region by the PRC [People's Republic of China]".

In addition, Latin America is seeing a rise in the elections of leftist governments, with Brazil being the latest country to vote in a socialist leader, further boosting China's influence in the region. In December, Nicaragua broke off its relations with Taiwan. According to Ellis, there has not been a Latin America "as dominated by a combination of leftists and anti-U.S. populist leaders," as now.

"Across the region, leftist governments will be particularly willing to work with the Chinese on government-to-government contracts," Ellis said, and possibly "with respect to security collaboration as well as technology collaboration."

China's trade with Latin America reached $450 billion last year, up from $180 billion in 2010. The World Economic Forum [WEF] has estimated that trade with the region will exceed $700 billion by 2035, more than double what it was in 2000.

Crucially, 21 out of the 33 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean have joined the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), China's gigantic global infrastructure project launched in 2013 to build an economic and infrastructure network connecting Asia with Europe, Africa and beyond. The BRI seeks dramatically to enhance China's global influence from East Asia to Europe by making countries worldwide increasingly dependent on China.

Latin America, as one headline succinctly noted recently, is fast "becoming China's backyard."

Vindman’s Case Against Trump is Thrown Out… More Anti-Trump Lies Exposed:

If you watch the news much, you’ll know that former US President Donald Trump has had a steady flow of lawsuits, both federal and civil, being hurled at him over the last few years. Basically, ever since he announced his move into the political limelight, he’s been a target of the progressive and establishment left. Clearly, he’s a major threat to their agenda and all they hold dear.

Hell, he’s even been impeached not once but twice by the House of Representatives. Too bad no one else ever bought into all the hysteria. No one else except for retired Army Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman that is.

Remember him?

If you don’t, this is the man responsible for the reason why Trump was supposedly impeached the first time.

According to him, Trump called up Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in 2019 to offer him a quid pro quo: Investigate Joe and Hunter Biden’s not-so-honest business dealings in Ukraine and, more specifically, the company Burisma or lose all federal funding.

At the time, Biden was running for president against Trump, and finding dirt on his son Hunter no doubt would have or could have hurt his campaign and chances of winning. Of course, thanks to the media, we know that’s not exactly true either.

The only problem was that Trump never had that conversation. Sure, he called the Ukrainian president on the day in question, but such an offer was never made. It couldn’t have, as funding to Ukraine had never even existed, not even during Obama’s tenure in the White House.

Of course, those facts didn’t stop Vindman and others from trying to get Trump kicked out.

Three years and a whole lot of failure against Trump later, and Vindman is apparently still not done with his attempts to stick it to Trump.

But yet again, Vindman doesn’t have anything on Trump.

As The Hill recently reported, Vindman and another lawsuit against Trump, this one aimed at his supposed “intimidation and retaliation” of his and other witnesses during his failed 2019 case, has been struck down by a federal judge.

According to this most recent lawsuit Trump, Trump’s oldest son Donald Trump Jr., Trump ally Rudy Giuliani and others pressured witnesses from the prior case, costing Vindman credibility during his congressional testimony against Trump.

The reason for his most recent failure?

Well, per the 29-page ruling issued by federal Judge James Boasberg, Vindman just didn’t have enough evidence of Trump and or anyone else breaking any laws.

Boesberg, an Obama-appointed judge, said, “Plaintiff’s pled facts, taken as true, certainly suggest that Defendants leveled harsh, meanspirited, and at times misleading attacks against him. But political hackery alone does not violate (the law at issue).”

Now, it’s highly possible that even this ruling won’t deflect Vindman much.

After all, it’s been three years, and he still seems to be as sore as ever at Trump. Some close to the case have even already indicated that Vindman has other supposedly legal moves up his sleeve – all in the hopes of beating Trump.

But if this recent loss tells us anything, it’s that Vindman should have learned his lesson long ago. And that means future attacks on the former president shouldn’t even be considered. Better to bow out with some modicum of dignity and grace before it’s too late… Then again, maybe it’s already too late for that.
