The Trudeau Government has committed to taking big steps to convert Canada’s national vehicle fleet to EVs:

Tied for second worst performing among the studied vehicles were the Ford Mustang Mach-E and the Volkswagon ID.4, the former of which is being added to the RCMP’s vehicle fleet. Both of these vehicles lost 30% of expected range in winter conditions.

Four Tesla models were evaluated and results show that the popular EVs lose about 15-19% of their range in cold weather – nearly the same amount of range lost across models. The Tesla Model Y, the RCMP’s first EV, lost 15% of its range.

The performance of EV batteries drop significantly in cold weather because the cold inhibits the chemical reaction occurring within the lithium-ion battery, thus affecting the battery’s performance.

One Twitter user commented on the potential impracticality of operating Teslas or other EVs in winter conditions.

The Trudeau government has committed to taking big steps to convert Canada’s national vehicle fleet to EVs. Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault announced that the government will be mandating that EV sales make up 20% of all vehicle sales in Canada by 2026, 60% of all vehicle sales by 2030, and by 2035 all vehicles sold in Canada will be EVs.

The RCMP’s purchase of EVs is in response to a 2021 piece of Liberal legislation called the Canadian Net-Zero Emissions Accountability Act.

Premiers agreed yesterday to accept a federal offer that will add $46-billion in new health care funding over 10 years even though it falls far short of what the provinces and territories say they need.

Ottawa is now negotiating bilateral agreements with each province and territory. The government is going to allow each premier to prioritize where their share of that funding will go as long as it falls within the priorities identified by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau: family health teams; health workers and surgery and diagnostic backlogs; mental health and substance use; and a modernized, digital health care system.

Health care systems across the country have not yet recovered from the pandemic strain. People are going without access to primary care and enduring long waiting times while hospitals are beset by surgery backlogs, staffing shortages and clogged emergency rooms.

Kari Lake Steals Show at Super Bowl as Photo of Her During ‘Black Nat’l Anthem’ Goes Viral:

Kari Lake is such a beloved and popular national pundit that photos of her doing nothing went viral on Sunday as she sat in her stadium seat during the opening show for the 2023 Superbowl, which was played in Arizona.

Media reports show Lake, a Republican candidate for governor of Arizona, just sitting quietly as people around her stood, and that was enough for the public to take notice and spread the information around on social media giving Lake a whole lot of attention.

Lake was fresh off of the campaign trail in Iowa, where she was the first Republican in 2023 to speak to huge crowds of voters, who turned out to hear the Populist Firebrand talk about her campaign for governor and the disastrous results of that election which have landed her in the national spotlight for what much of the public sees as obvious voter fraud- in the victory of sitting Governor, Democrat Katie Hobbs.

However, while in Iowa, Lake told crowds that the fight isn’t finished yet, and she chose to speak in Iowa as she waits for her legal challenges to Hobbs to work their way through the courts.

Iowa is historically the first primary to be held during a Presidential campaign, so the choice to speak to the people was very noteworthy.

Lake had an awesome turnout in Iowa, with over-packed rooms, and then she headed to the Super Bowl, where the public displayed their interest in her, as she remained in her seat during the divisive ‘Black National Anthem,” which is a tactic used by social justice warriors to diving the unity in the United States.

Michael Austin reported on the story for the Western Journal with some more details about Lake and the divisive anthem:

In 2020, the so-called black national anthem, “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” was first introduced as a newfound staple to be sung before every NFL game.

The song, a Christian hymn honoring the birthday of Republican President Abraham Lincoln, certainly has noble origins. But the reason for its inclusion before pro football games was anything but noble.

According to Time, the NFL introduced the song as a “black” national anthem in “an effort to reinforce the league’s professed newfound alignment with Black Lives Matter.”

The “black national anthem” was added as a concession to those who felt the “racist” origins of “The Star-Spangled Banner” didn’t represent them.

Regardless of what song they chose, designating something as a “national anthem” representative of only one racial group is nothing but divisive.

That’s why conservative firebrand Kari Lake chose to sit as it rang out at Super Bowl LVII on Sunday in Glendale, Arizona.

“The @NFL played two different ‘National Anthems’ tonight. Someone just sent me a photo of @KariLake sitting during the first one,” conservative journalist Benny Johnson tweeted during the championship game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs.

The pouty left-leaning Independent had a very negative reaction to Lake’s stand, reporting:

Kari Lake is facing backlash for sitting through a popular civil rights hymn at the Super Bowl.

Before Sunday’s Super Bowl liftoff, actor Sheryl Lee Ralph performed “Lift Every Voice and Sing”, a song that has been a part of the NFL since the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests and considered to be the Black national anthem.

Photos on social media showed Ms. Lake – the Republican candidate who lost the Arizona Senate race last November – sitting through the song, something for which Twitter users criticized her.

The backlash came during a Super Bowl contest that saw the Philadelphia Eagles win against the Kansas City Chiefs at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

As photos of Ms. Lake sitting went viral on social media, one user said she was a “pseudo-patriot”.

“She subscribes to the idea of ‘one Nation, under God.’”

However, not all reaction was negative about Lake’s patriotic sense of the unity of the country:

Our girl is against the idea of a “black National Anthem” for the same reason she’s against a “white National Anthem”

No doubt Lake will face accusations of “racism” and “bigotry” from the left in response to her decision.

Those same “tolerant” people who would criticize her also want to divide us by race.

They want each of us to sing a different national anthem based on nothing more than the color of our skin.

This is because the left continues to push the notion that America’s history is tainted by “racism” and “whiteness,” so “The Star-Spangled Banner” can only represent white people.

But that’s not true. America has created more freedoms for more people than any other nation on Earth. This nation has one anthem, and it represents each and every one of us.

Thankfully, Kari Lake was willing to stand up for that ideal at a time when too few of us are willing to stand up for anything, the Western Journal concluded. [The Western Journal]

Updates on Russia's war and a look ahead (Feb. 13)

NATO defense chiefs are set to meet Tuesday and Wednesday in Brussels, including a gathering of the U.S.-led Ukraine Defense Contact Group.

Also Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin is due to address an annual gathering of judges, including those in military courts.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres addresses the World Government Summit in the United Arab Emirates the same day.

And Yale University will release a report that afternoon on the Russian government's alleged kidnapping of thousands of Ukrainian children.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will give a foreign policy address to parliament on Wednesday.

Also Wednesday, U.N. agencies will launch Ukraine refugee and humanitarian response plans.

Next week will mark one year since Russia invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24, 2022.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made a surprise Europe tour, meeting leaders in London, Paris and Brussels, and reiterating his call for allies to send fighter jets to Ukraine.

Russian forces began their next major offensive in the eastern Ukrainian region of Luhansk, attacking Ukrainian defensive lines and making marginal advances, according to the Institute for the Study of War. Analysts at the Atlantic Council also said Russian forces are pushing to encircle Bakhmut, a city in eastern Ukraine's Donetsk region.

Ukrainian Ambassador to the U.S. Oksana Markarova attended President Biden's State of the Union speech, for the second year in a row, but the war in Ukraine received far less attention in the address this time. [

There's "strong indication" Russian President Vladimir Putin gave the go-ahead to supply anti-aircraft weapons to separatists in Ukraine, according to the international team investigating the downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 in 2014.

Russia launched killer drones, cruise missiles and bombers across Ukraine on Friday, targeting the country's energy infrastructure.

A British defense intelligence assessment said Russia had suffered its highest rate of casualties since the start of the war.
