Ron DeSantis proven correct about booster shots for Americans:
💥💥💥Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis was served some vindication via the CDC’s newest guidelines that treats those who haven’t kept up with their COVID-19 vaccination boosters the same as those who have not been vaccinated.
According to The Daily Caller, DeSantis was fact-checked “false” for predicting that those without boosters would soon be categorized like those without the vaccinations altogether.
Just weeks later the CDC updated its guidance, saying that those who were “fully” vaccinated do not have to quarantine at all if exposed to the virus, they should just wear a mask for up to 10 days.
However, those who are vaccinated but not boosted should be treated like those who are unvaccinated and quarantine for five days if they were exposed to COVID-19 and wear a mask for another five days.
It was early November of 2021 when DeSantis predicted that Americans who received only one dose of the COVID-19 vaccination would soon be treated unvaccinated by authorities. [Conservative Institute]

💥💥Canada's social justice warriors in the schools, churches, and community centers want to promote "colonialists vs first nations". I guess we don't have enough blacks, poor,or unvaxed; and Canadians don't pay attention to news like Americans.

TRUMP – way out FRONT:
I must admit, I'm surprised. Are you? [Patrick Bestall]
Harris Says the Unthinkable About Voting Rights:
Voting rights have been under attack by the left for a while now. And it’s ridiculous when you think about it. Why is it so bizarre to ask people to show ID when they vote in local or federal elections? We ask people to show ID to buy beer, obtain medical care, or cash a check, so why should voting be any different?
Kamala Harris was a package deal with Joe Biden. The two of them together were voted into the White House for the people, by the people.
The people want to make sure that elections are safe. Yet, Kamala Harris believes that voting rights need to change.
It’s as if she has no idea what’s actually going on. Perhaps if she weren’t letting everyone through the southern border, we wouldn’t be so concerned about voting rights. In a “Face the Nation” interview on CBS, Harris spoke with Margaret Brennan about passing federal voting legislation.
Harris wanted to provide some history of who she was as a person, with having parents who met while they were active in the Civil Rights movement. But this isn’t about civil rights anymore. This is about protecting our nation from outside interference.

Highlights are mine. The whole letter is worth reading (and sending). Don't be lukewarm about this tyranny which is destroying churches as well as small businesses. You know what Jesus said about lukewarm people. He's trying to heat you up. Just like Michael.

Subject: Email premier and mp, mpps, I did, maybe we can all do so?
I sent the email below to the Premier today - premier@ontario.ca - along with my MPP, MP, and Dr. Kieran Moore - kieran.moore@ontario.ca.
If you live in Ontario, please consider sending your own email to protest the closure of gyms and restaurants, which is ridiculous when you can go to CostCo and infect as many people as you want with Omicron!!! You are welcome to use parts of my email below.
Businesses that have managed to survive last year will not survive another closure. If politicians had to give up part or all of their salaries for every business they close, they might understand what it's like for a business owner to have to shut down.
Mr. Premier,
How do you KNOW there is a "tsunami" of covid cases? The CDC has withdrawn the PCR test, so how are these "cases" being confirmed? Further, how many of these people end up in hospital? Further, since the year-over-year death rate has NOT CHANGED, clearly the so-called "pandemic" is nothing of the sort.
Doctors in South Africa, where Omicron began, say the variant is no worse than a mild cold. So announcing case numbers is like saying "x" number of people have a cold. Should that terrify us? I know several people who've had Omicron and quickly recovered with no need for medical care.
Obviously, few people will need hospitalization for an Omicron "cold". Hospitals and properly prescribed pharmaceutical drugs are the MOST dangerous for one's health, being the third leading cause of death in the US (Canada no doubt has similar numbers). And 100 times more children have died from the "vaccine" than from Covid, so maybe you should be closing "vaccine" clinics instead of gyms and restaurants?
How about if you turn off the scare tactics about Omicron and tell us about some accurate numbers for a change? Going to the hospital for a broken leg and testing positive for Covid, as recently happened to someone I know of, is NOT the same as being hospitalized for Covid. The numbers are obviously being padded with these specious techniques.
It's interesting that your "Open for Business" policy does not extend to small businesses such as gyms and restaurants when big box stores and construction businesses are wide open. I'm sure the many small- and medium-sized businesses you've closed with your targeted policies will keep that in mind in June.
And DO NOT CLOSE GYMS, which are the places where the healthiest people go to support and increase their health. Perhaps you should try visiting one regularly yourself before you decide they are "non-essential" or "dangerous".

Morning Update:
Ontario moves schools online, closes indoor dining and gyms starting tomorrow:
Ontario Premier Doug Ford has announced a return to Stage 2 COVID-19 restrictions as the province reported 13,578 new cases. Starting tomorrow, schools will operate online, and indoor dining rooms, gyms and other indoor gathering spaces must close. Personal care services and retail stores will be limited to 50 per cent capacity. Indoor social gatherings will be capped at five people.
New daily hospital admissions have reached “triple digits” in Ontario, Mr. Ford said. Ontario’s public-health experts calculate Omicron could infect hundreds of thousands of people every day, which could crush hospitals.
💥“We face a tsunami of new cases in the coming days and weeks,” Mr. Ford said.
The province reported 1,232 people hospitalized with COVID-19, with a total of 13,578 new COVID-19 cases on Monday.
The government said the school closing will last until at least Jan. 17 and free childcare will be provided for front-line workers with school-aged children.
Parents and children around the country have had to absorb abrupt changes in recent weeks, as provinces bring in new restrictions to thwart the spread of the highly contagious Omicron variant of COVID-19. After nearly two years of intermittent pandemic measures, the disruptions are taking their toll.

Do NOT let FORERIGNERS Vote:
💥💥GOP Senator Comes Up with Genius Plan to Stop Federal Funding to Areas that Allow Illegals to Vote:
Looking ahead to 2022, while the Republicans have lost control of the White House and Congress, the party is looking to advance its agenda.
Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) along with other GOP lawmakers are pushing a bill that will prevent our tax dollars from funding states that allow illegal aliens or non-citizens to vote in our U.S. elections. It only seems fair that only American citizens should be able to cast their vote and decide on who will represent them on state and local levels.
Rubio has often made remarks about how we can’t allow foreign citizens to vote and receive U.S. taxpayer dollars as a result of usletting people who are not citizens decide where our money goes. This should outrage true Americans on every level.
I mean, we don’t let Tom and Nancy from our neighborhood come into our homes and decide where our money goes every Friday afternoon on payday. The lodge members would be up in arms if we tried to tell them who was going to be their next grandmaster. The same goes for any organization anywhere. So, if these examples don’t sound downright ludicrous to American citizens, we must entertain the idea that maybe you are anti-America.
Rubio commented, “It’s ridiculous that states are allowing foreign citizens to vote, however, if states and localities do let those who are not U.S. citizens to vote in elections, they shouldn’t get U.S. citizen taxpayer money.”
Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.) stated “Voting in this country is a right that should solely be limited to American citizens. Allowing non-citizens or illegal immigrants to vote, even if only in state or local elections, gives foreign nationals influence on some of the most important decisions impacting our families, our rights, and our representation in government.” [Real Loaded News]

Why I resigned from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation
💥💥💥An excellent Letter:💥💥💥
For months now, I’ve been getting complaints about the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, where I’ve worked as a TV and radio producer, and occasional on-air columnist, for much of the past decade.
People want to know why, for example, non-binary Filipinos concerned about a lack of LGBT terms in Tagalog is an editorial priority for the CBC, when local issues of broad concern go unreported. Or why our pop culture radio show’s coverage of the Dave Chappelle Netflix special failed to include any of the legions of fans, or comics, that did not find it offensive. Or why, exactly, taxpayers should be funding articles that scold Canadians for using words such as “brainstorm” and “lame.”
Everyone asks the same thing: What is going on at the CBC?
When I started at the national public broadcaster in 2013, the network produced some of the best journalism in the country. By the time I resigned last month, it embodied some of the worst trends in mainstream media. In a short period of time, the CBC went from being a trusted source of news to churning out clickbait that reads like a parody of the student press.
Those of us on the inside know just how swiftly — and how dramatically — the politics of the public broadcaster have shifted.
It used to be that I was the one furthest to the left in any newsroom, occasionally causing strain in story meetings with my views on issues like the housing crisis. I am now easily the most conservative, frequently sparking tension by questioning identity politics. This happened in the span of about 18 months. My own politics did not change.
To work at the CBC in the current climate is to embrace cognitive dissonance and to abandon journalistic integrity.
It is to sign on, enthusiastically, to a radical political agenda that originated on Ivy League campuses in the United States and spread through American social media platforms that monetize outrage and stoke societal divisions. It is to pretend that the “woke” worldview is near universal — even if it is far from popular with those you know, and speak to, and interview, and read.
To work at the CBC now is to accept the idea that race is the most significant thing about a person, and that some races are more relevant to the public conversation than others. It is, in my newsroom, to fill out racial profile forms for every guest you book; to actively book more people of some races and less of others.
To work at the CBC is to submit to job interviews that are not about qualifications or experience — but instead demand the parroting of orthodoxies, the demonstration of fealty to dogma.
It is to become less adversarial to government and corporations and more hostile to ordinary people with ideas that Twitter doesn’t like.
It is to endlessly document microaggressions but pay little attention to evictions; to spotlight company’s political platitudes but have little interest in wages or working conditions. It is to allow sweeping societal changes like lockdowns, vaccine mandates, and school closures to roll out — with little debate. To see billionaires amass extraordinary wealth and bureaucrats amass enormous power — with little scrutiny. And to watch the most vulnerable among us die of drug overdoses — with little comment.
It is to consent to the idea that a growing list of subjects are off the table, that dialogue itself can be harmful. That the big issues of our time are all already settled.
It is to capitulate to certainty, to shut down critical thinking, to stamp out curiosity. To keep one’s mouth shut, to not ask questions, to not rock the boat.
This, while the world burns.
How could good journalism possibly be done under such conditions? How could any of this possibly be healthy for society?
All of this raises larger questions about the direction that North America is headed. Questions about this new moment we are living through — and its impact on the body politic. On class divisions, and economic inequality. On education. On mental health. On literature, and comedy. On science. On liberalism, and democracy.
These questions keep me up at night.
I can no longer push them down. I will no longer hold them back. This Substack is an attempt to find some answers.
I have been a journalist for 20 years, covering everything from hip-hop to news, food to current affairs. The through line has always been books, which I’ve engaged with at every stage of my career and at every outlet I’ve worked for. In 2020, I published my own book, Lean Out: A Meditation on the Madness of Modern Life, which was an instant bestseller in Canada.
Books have always opened new worlds for me, introduced me to new perspectives, and helped me to make sense of humanity. I need books now more than ever.
During lockdown, when I wasn’t covering COVID-19, I spent a lot of time interviewing authors for a new book I’m working on. Their boldness and insight and humour saved me from despair. These writers gave me ideas on how to move forward, and how to maintain hope. Most of all, they gave me the courage to stand up — and to speak out.
Here at Substack, I will continue the work of thinking through the current moment, focusing on non-fiction writing from around the world. I will post an essay on a books related topic every Monday, and a podcast conversation with a heterodox author every Wednesday. This will be free to all. A third post on Fridays will round up the most contrarian, controversial or overlooked new books and essays, and will be available to paid subscribers.
This work is entirely independent and entirely free from editorial control, allowing me to say the things that are not being said, and ask the questions that are not being asked. Lean Out is solely supported by subscribers. If you care about the world of ideas and value open inquiry, as I do, please consider a paid subscription.
And stay tuned for the first episode of the Lean Out podcast this Wednesday, featuring my conversation with Newsweek’s Batya Ungar-Sargon, author of Bad News: How Woke Media is Undermining Democracy. [Tara Henley Jan 3]
